In America in the beginning, the performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely be in the prodigy child category. However, for a child from Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family, these were very natural traits. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin - Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons placed second in a household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen was a great athlete and played rough, athletic sports when she was a young. In addition to this she was gifted to act. This was demonstrated by her getting almost every Feis awards for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. At age fourteen, she was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
